Questions?
Here are the answers to some of the most common questions we hear from customers. If you have a question we have not addressed in this list, please feel free to contact us.
After many years of being a 95% ultimate-focused company, Pivot’s parent company, VC Ultimate, wanted to branch out. The reason for this was simply that we wanted to be able to grow our business and provide the absolute best year-round support to our customers, and ensure that we’re fully staffed up and operational when the madness of the spring ultimate season hits.
To do this, we needed to keep ourselves busier in the fall/winter. The problem… um, you’ve seen the fields of Canada in the fall/winter! Ultimate’s a little scarce!
We put our thinking hats on and researched every other sport out there. The issues we kept coming across were twofold. First, the demand for uniforms for most sports would coincide with the demand for ultimate uniforms, and it was important to us to not jeopardize delivery standards to our core customer base. Secondly, the spirit of ultimate – both in terms of the sport’s governing principle of Spirit of the Game and the spirit and enthusiasm of its players and teams – was unique and not easily matched by other sports.
And then we dug deeper in to curling.
From the World Curling Federation, “The Spirit of Curling is a commonly used term in the sport. It refers to the respect curlers show, not only to one another, but also to the sport itself. It is encapsulated by the saying that a curler would rather lose than win unfairly.”
Eureka, we’d found our next sport.
Along the way, there were a couple of key individuals that kept putting curling on my radar. Special shout out to Alena Papayanis of Terra ultimate fame, who continuously invited me to her annual bonspiel party despite my brutal travel schedule precluding me to get on the ice (one day!). The one and only Lee Merklinger, who is not only a great ultimate player but an amazing and enthusiastic curler, who subjected herself to being our product development tester and guide, and who scored us our first sponsored team, Team Middaugh. And last but not least, the incomparable Brian Gisel, who we have the honor of working with as the GM of BC Ultimate, a Director of the World Flying Disc Federation and who happens to know a gazillion people in the west coast curling scene, including our first men’s sponsored team, Team Joanisse.
It seems that more than just a few ultimate players hand in their cleats for their shoes and brooms in the fall, and we couldn’t be more excited to hear about your stories and have the opportunity to work with you on another sport that you’re passionate about.
As a Canadian company, the icing on the rink for us was that curling is an inclusive sport played across the county. I dare you to find me a town in Canada without a curling rink nearby. It’s also a sport played equally by both men and women, which is a crucial characteristic for me personally to become engaged.

The complete Torque line sublimated products shown on this site are custom-manufactured in Europe by Pivot.
Pivot’s specialized curling line can be found here.
We have introduced a number of high quality non-sublimated products made by other companies, which we have found to be very popular with our customers. Screen-printing and embroidery are excellent customization options for these products.
Pivot Torque line sublimated orders take 5-6 weeks to be produced and arrive in Canada to go through our strict in-house quality control checks. Non-sublimated orders will take 1-2 weeks, depending on product availability from our suppliers. These turnaround times do not include shipping.
If you have a specific date by which you need your order, please let us know so we can make sure to arrange the appropriate delivery service to make it happen.
For our Torque sublimated line, yes you can! Rush Torque orders can be produced and arrive in Canada in 3 to 4.5 weeks and the price increases associated with the faster service are listed on the product pages. Please note that this timeline does not include shipping from our Toronto office to you. Your sales representative will be more than happy to work through delivery times and options with you.
For non-sublimated orders, our timelines are already quite fast, so there may not be much time we can shave off of these turnaround times. If you have a specific event or date you are trying to have your gear for, please make sure to let your sales rep know the details and we will do our best to accommodate. Shipping upgrades can be quoted at any time once your order completion date is confirmed.
Please note: The best way to get your order done quickly is to have your art checked, mock-ups prepared for production and quotes confirmed before you finalize your sizing and order specifics. Start the design process early and you’re ahead of the game!
There is a strict 5 unit minimum for sublimated orders.
There is also a minimum order of 5 units/style for non-sublimated gear. Please also note that there are set-up charges associated with other customization methods, as well as higher customization prices, for lower quantities (under 12 units). Please check our screen-printing and/or embroidery pages for details.
Pivot ships orders via UPS, Canada Post, or through a local courier company if the order is staying within the Greater Toronto Area.
- Within the GTA: $12 courier charge. (Next day service. Same day service can be arranged for $20.)
- Within Canada and the US: $0.75 – $1.75 per item, depending on total quantity.
- International: $5 per item, although minimum package fees for smaller orders requiring tracking may apply.
At Pivot we want you to enjoy wearing your gear as much as we enjoy making it. If you notice any problems with the workmanship of our products, please bring them to our attention within 10 days of your gear being delivered. We will do our best to either fix the problem, or find another suitable solution.
Of course! Our expert sales and customer service representatives are standing by and will be happy to explain all of your options.
